Advertise Your Home for Rent – Completely Free
Short answer: Creating, publishing and editing a rental listing on LejLet.nu is free – no payment card, no subscription. It's also free for the tenants who message you. A listing is active for 30 days and can be renewed for free with the "Renew" button for as long as you still need a tenant.
On some housing portals, creating a listing is free for the landlord, but the people looking for a home pay instead – for example a subscription to be able to message you. On LejLet.nu, it's free for both sides. Here's what "free" means in practice, and what you get.
What Does It Cost to Advertise on LejLet.nu?
Nothing. There's no paywall anywhere in the process – no payment card, no subscription and no upgrade button that suddenly appears once you've finished writing the listing. You create, publish, edit and renew your listing without ever typing in a card number.
What Do You Get With the Free Listing?
- Up to 12 photos plus a floor plan
- A precise address: you choose it from Denmark's official address register, so tenants can see where the home is from the start
- Instant matching: as soon as the listing goes live, tenants with a search agent that matches your home get an email – you don't need to seek anyone out yourself
- Built-in messaging, so all contact with interested tenants happens in one place, without you having to share your private phone number
- The energy label shown as a coloured badge on the listing, and the total move-in price calculated automatically
- For companies: the "Verified landlord" badge, once we've checked your CVR number (Danish company registration number) and manually approved that you represent the company
Why Does It Matter That It's Free for Tenants, Too?
It's neither illegal nor unreasonable for a portal to charge – that's their business model. But when people looking for a home have to pay to message you, it can cut out some good applicants, such as students or people new to the city. On LejLet.nu, searching, creating search agents and messaging landlords are free, so your listing can reach everyone who's looking.
How Long Does the Listing Stay Up?
A listing is active for 30 days. You get an email shortly before it expires, and in the final days you can renew it for free with the "Renew" button under "My listings" – which gives it 30 new days. If the listing has already expired, you can reactivate it in the same place. Once the home is rented out, click "Hide" next to the listing under "My listings" and choose "Rented out", so you stop getting inquiries.
How to Create Your Free Listing
- Click "List a property", and choose the address from the list.
- Fill in the home details, finances and amenities – remember the energy label.
- Upload photos and, if you have one, a floor plan.
- Check the preview, ideally on your phone.
- Log in with a one-time code or a login link sent to your email – there's no password to remember – and click "Publish listing".

Is There a Catch?
The honest answer: no, not today. There's no hidden payment later in the process. But free also means you handle the rest yourself: LejLet.nu doesn't draw up the lease, doesn't collect rent and doesn't check tenants' finances for you. The energy label must appear in the listing, and the deposit and prepaid rent must stay within the legal cap – wherever you advertise.
